WHO WE ARE

WE ARE...

A BELIEVING COMMUNITY

We are a community of people who believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth as a man, died on a cross and rose again from the dead so that our rebellion might be dealt with and that we might be reconciled to God. Proclaiming Jesus as our Saviour and Lord is our number one priority.

A LISTENING  COMMUNITY

We are a community of people who want to hear God speak through His word and run our lives by what we hear. Many of our events—our Sunday meetings and our weekly Bible study groups—are centred around hearing God speak through his word, the Bible, and figuring out what we’ve heard means for our day-to-day lives.

Who We Are

AN OUTWARD FOCUSED COMMUNITY

Not only do we seek to minister to the needs of our own family and community, but we also seek to meet the needs of those in other areas of Australia and overseas. We do this through the missionaries we support, special projects and mission trips.

A DIVERSE COMMUNITY

We are a community of people who want to hear God speak through His word and run our lives by what we hear. Many of our events—our Sunday meetings and our weekly Bible study groups—are centred around hearing God speak through his word, the Bible, and figuring out what we’ve heard means for our day-to-day lives.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

HERE'S A BRIEF OUTLINE OF WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that there is one God who is the Creator and Judge of the world.

He has revealed himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God has made himself known to us through the Bible.

Human beings like us have been created to live under God's good and rightful rule.

But all people everywhere have rebelled against God.

The penalty for this rebellion is death, ultimately leading to everlasting judgement.

Jesus is the Lord from heaven who came to lead a sinless life,

and to offer himself up as the sinless sacrifice to pay the death penalty which we deserve.

We can't earn salvation.

We can only receive it when the Holy Spirit enables us to trust in Jesus alone.

Trusting in Jesus and not our own good works,

we seek to live godly lives, loving God and our neighbour.

We seek to serve Jesus in his church.

Our Vision

OUR VISION

A good question to ask ourselves a Christians is ‘What is our mission in life now we are followers of Jesus?’ Thankfully Jesus makes this easier for us by detailing our mission in Matthew 28:18-20 with the Great Commission:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Our mission is to live under Jesus’ lordship as His disciples and to go into the world calling others to follow Jesus and teaching them also to be His follower or disciple. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life and church life it is hard to keep Jesus’ mission for us focused in our minds.

When someone walks through our doors on Sunday morning, whether they have come along for the first time, or whether they have been coming faithfully for 20 years, what is our desire for them? What should their pathway at RPC be?

Four simple words are helpful for us in thinking about the pathway of a disciple of Jesus: Connect. Grow. Serve. Go.

First and foremost, people's salvation is priority number one. We want to see everyone:

CONNECT

1. CONNECT to God by trusting in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and CONNECT to the church family here at RPC.

At RPC we aim to connect people with God and with each other. That’s why we’re all about Jesus. Jesus is the King of this world. We aim to connect people with their King and tell people about Jesus, his life, his death for sins and his resurrection so that we can be forgiven and connected with the living God. It’s only through Jesus by his death on the cross that we can connect to God, knowing his love and forgiveness. And it’s only through knowing Jesus that we can really connect with each other. Being forgiven the same way – only through Jesus – truly brings us together, whoever we are, whatever our background.

2. GROW in their relationship with Jesus and other believers, especially through active involvement in a Bible Study Growth Group.

At RPC we want people to grow: grow in relationship with God and grow relationships with each other. Having connected to Jesus our saviour, we want to grow with him as our Master, and we as his disciples. We want to grow in our love for Jesus and with others who follow Jesus as Lord. We encourage everyone at RPC to join a Bible Study Growth Group.

3. SERVE Jesus and each other according to your gifts and other’s needs, especially through active involvement in a ministry team.

At RPC we seek to serve: to God by serving one anther. Having connected to Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and growing with him as our Lord, we seek to be like him in by serving others. As we connect to each other and grow together in Jesus, we want to serve each other and the community around us. That’s where our ministries come into the picture.

4. GO into the world as ambassadors for Jesus, with the view of connecting everyone to God through Jesus.

At RPC we aim to equip one another to take the good news of Jesus Christ, this world’s King and only Saviour, out into a world that is being called by God to follow his son Jesus. We seek to support all people in this task by connecting them with Jesus Christ, growing in our love and knowledge of Him and serving one another.
